WOOD TECH AT LIGNA 2025

Every two years, the woodworking world converges in Germany, for LIGNA — the world’s leading trade fair for woodworking and wood processing technology. This year, Wood Tech proudly sent team members from across Australia to experience firsthand the innovations shaping the future of our industry.

LIGNA is more than just a trade show — it’s a snapshot of where the industry is heading. From robotics and digital integration to high-efficiency machinery, this year’s event reflected a strong push toward automation — a trend that’s only accelerating as labour shortages continue to impact manufacturing globally.

Here’s what Peter from our Western Australia team had to say after day one on the ground:

“One of the early standouts was the new Edgebander technology entering the market. There’s definitely a sharper focus on automation, which makes sense given the labour challenges we’ve all been seeing.

Features such as quick-melt glue system, and significantly smaller footprint than current gen models (around 2 metres shorter) can have a huge impact, and I think it’ll really suit the Australian market.

There’s also been a lot of attention on drilling solutions, which makes sense (see our customer video on Cabinet Systems to see how introducing a separate drilling process improved efficiency).”
